Quake 4 (DX9)

ID software's Quake 4 was released in October 2005. It is based on the Doom 3 engine which was released a year earlier. Doom 3 engine, along with the original Far Cry's CryEngine have probably been the biggest graphical leaps in PC gaming since the original Half-Life. Doom 3 engine feautured the most advanced lighting techniques of its time. It also incorporated complex animations and high resolution textures. For this benchmark, I used Hardware OC's Quake 4 benchmark. I applied 8 X AA to make an ageing graphics engine stressful on the GTX 285's.

TRI SLI shows its use in this benchmark. The difference between 27 FPS and 45 FPS is what defines barely playable and reasonable gameplay. TRI SLI, however is what really makes the gameplay experience enjoyable.
