3D Mark Vantage

Let us start by some good old synthetic benchmarks. Here is 3D Mark Vantage. Now, usually when you see 3D Mark Vantage scores, they are run at the default settings. Those who are a bit more creative choose the Extreme preset, which is run at a resolution of 1920 X 1200 and 4XAA...not for this review! We let 3D Mark Vantage throw everything it had at our test set up. 2560 X 1600, 8XAA, extreme image quality.

The results are represented in two graphs. The first graph compares 1GB vs 2GB in single, Crossfire, and Trifire configurations. The second graph just shows AA scaling when running trifire with both 1GB and 2GB GDDR5 RAM. We have included the second graph for only the titles that showed heavy improvements with additional fame buffer.

The result is quite interesting but not unexpected. If you were to run this benchmark at default settings, or even the extreme preset you would get roughly similar results(I tried it !). But as already mentioned we are not concerned with low image qualitysettings. High end 2GB cards can only shine if extreme settings are applied. 8XAA kills the performance if you are running the 1GB version. For reference, the highest GPU score achieved (15009) corresponds to an average of 44 FPS in the two 3D Mark game tests.
